Guilty pleasure Love After Lockup was a sneak attack in the popularity department. No one could have predicted that this show was going to be this successful. It has even spawned a spin-off, and we can only assume there is more to come. The cast of the show is full of random couples and mismatched relationships.
We live watching the drama unfold. However, we are firm believers that the real drama happens off-camera. Who is cheating on who, who got arrested again, who is pregnant, and of curse who didn’t last? We have compiled some of the juicy gossip going behind the scenes with some of your favorite cast members.
You Can’t Commit Too Horrible Of A Crime
The cast of Love After Lockup is certainly colorful. Each season has had their own trainwrecks and the cast seems to be getting worse and worse. We are always curious about what the prisoners went to jail for and how long they were there. Producers of the show have said that they are extremely mindful of the crimes committed when they are casting.
They Are Paid So Little
Can you believe that the cast of Love After Lockup only gets paid $2,000 per episode? Is that enough for you to want to spill your guts about your personal life? We can assume that the more seasons and more drama that the cast member brings gets them more money and a lot more screen time. Then we can assume that most of them are trying to parlay this into another job like say, an influencer. The cast is also offered an extra $250 for showing up to reunions and special event episodes.
This Isn’t Andrea’s First Go ‘Round
Andrea and Lamar have a very interesting relationship but watching it play out on TV must be weird for Lamar. Andrea is probably used to it seeing as she and her daughter were on a failed reality TV show.
The show they were on was called Stage Moms of L.A. and her spiel was this, “We’re different. We’re awesome! We’re Mormon, which is so cool! And, you know, did I say we’re cute? And there’s too many ugly people out there. We need to be, you know, try to know the world how beautiful people can be happy, and it’s just all about, you know, not that.”
Yes, X-Rated Letters Are Allowed
Fans of the show often wonder just how racy the inmates can get in their letters. They are not allowed to touch their visitors and most of the time the cast members ended up not qualifying for conjugal visits so they opt to get down and dirty in the form of penmanship. According to cast member Glorietta, inmates get pretty creative in their letters. “It’s really challenging and complex when an inmate is incarcerated, you don’t have that physical intimacy, and so it’s really difficult sometimes to really keep the spark alive. They can write letters that are a little more X-rated or they can talk on the phone.”
We Have A Published Author On Our Hands
The past season fans were introduced to Cheryl and her bank robber inmate boyfriend Josh. the couple was mostly off from the start and we assumed that their situationship was not going to last. Besides all of that, we were shocked to learn that Josh is a published author. The ex-bank robber released a book, self-published we assume just before he was released from prison.
Scott Had A Drug Addiction
Scott and Lizzie were by far one of the most controversial couples on the show so far. They were such an odd pairing and almost immediately, fans knew she was using him for money. Her own daughter accused her of it on TV several times. Lizzie recently did an interview where she outed Scott for being a drug addict. This was shocking seeing as how bothered he was by Lizzie’s drug use. Scott Ultimately did his own interview and cleared up a few of those facts. He indeed had a drug problem but says he has been clean for years now.
Michael Likes Jazmyne
Lizzie introduced the world to her daughter Jazmyne and it was mad awkward. She wasn’t into Scott at all and she regularly let him and everyone else know about it. She constantly called her mom out on still running a scam on Scott and she constantly made her mom feel stupid for the decisions she was making.
Another shocking piece of information we learned about Jazmyne is that Michael the guy in the love triangle supposedly slid into her DMs. according to Lizzie, she let it slip that Michael has been trying to get at her daughter. We hope Jazmyne has the sense she portrayed on TV to stay away from that man.
Mary Wasn’t The Right Fit
Mary and Dominic from season one of Love After Lockup were hoping to be invited back for either season two of the show or better yet, the spin-off Life After Lockup. She thought that they portrayed a realistic couple going through a real situation. The Toronto natives were the least exciting on the show and Dominic seemed completely out of place so we see why the producers did not call them back. But, this didn’t stop Mary from unleashing a vicious attack against the show on her Instagram a few weeks before the premiere of season one of Life After Lockup.
Scott Was In Federal Prison
Anything is possible now that we know Scott did drugs in his past. This man that we all felt so incredibly bad for is not so innocent. He actually served time in federal prison, similar to his ex-boo Lizzie. When he was asked if there was any truth to Lizzie’s accusations that he spent time in prison Scott was very honest. He was adamant that his arrest was not drug-related, the most he would say about it was, “I crafted a tool to break into ATMs. That’s the bottom line.” Scott said he did 15 years for his atm crimes. Dang, that’s a long time.
Love After Lockup Baby
Love After Lockup season one couple Mary and Dominic announced on her social media that they are expecting in the new year. Still dying for a spin-off of her own Mary announced her pregnancy with a photoshopped “Baby After Love After Lockup” sign. She captioned the photo, “Baby After Lockup!!! Baby Daddy & Baby Mama COMING APRIL 2020!!” This is the couple’s first child and they received love from fellow cast member Johanna who was full of excitement, “Yes! So excited for you!”. Maybe they now have a reason to be on the next season of Life After Lockup?
