We’re all familiar with the classic musical that literally made up our entire childhood. Starting in 2006, this trilogy captivated us with its high school richness and musical brilliance.
Of course, Zac Efron was probably your first celebrity crush, but where exactly is the rest of the cast now? If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, here are 10 films and shows where you can find the cast of High School Musical. You’re welcome.
The Greatest Showman (2017), Zac Efron
Zac Efron is without a doubt the most successful prodigy of this musical franchise, and he’s definitely taking Hollywood by storm. This biographical musical drama follows a businessman (Hugh Jackman) as he rises from nothing to create a worldwide sensation: a circus.
Zac plays his partner, Phillip Carlyle, and blows us away with his stunning vocals and impressive dance moves. This film is heartfelt, funny, and totally inspiring, not to mention filled with incredible musical numbers. You need to see this movie, especially if you need to hear some more of that heavenly Troy Bolton voice.
Spring Breakers (2012), Vanessa Hudgens
This comedy crime drama is not exactly for everyone, as this R-Rated film follows four college girls as they try to hold up a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation. They are arrested but are bailed out by a drug and arms dealer.
This film isn’t exactly the best, and it’s DEFINITELY a huge shock to see Miss Gabriella Montez take on this role. However, with James Franco, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Benson, this film is a dark comedy that might actually pique your interest.
Hellcats (2010-2011), Ashley Tisdale
This television drama is one of our absolute favorite roles of the infamous Sharpay Evans. While this show only got one season, it is still definitely worth a watch. This show follows a competitive cheerleading squad, and is filled with drama, comedy, and some pretty stellar cheer-leading moves.
This is not the typical, cliche cheer-leading show, but will actually keep viewers on the edge of their seats the entire time. Ashley has definitely moved over to the television screen, but we’re still loving every moment of it. (Ashley has two incredible unnamed sitcoms coming out soon, so fans should also keep their eyes out for those out, too!)
The Lucky One (2012), Zac Efron
It was hard to pick Zac Efron’s best films (as there are a lot), but we thought we’d throw in his most romantic, authentic performance for all those people out there still crushing on this heartthrob.
Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, Zac plays Logan, a marine who travels to Louisiana to search for the woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war. This movie will have viewers bawling by the end and might just make one’s heart explode, so prepare for some sweet and sultry Zac Efron.
Switched at Birth (2011-2017), Lucas Grabeel
This actor also moved over to television and landed an impressive leading role in this drama show. With 5 full seasons, this Emmy-nominated show follows two teenage girls as their lives are turned upside down upon finding out they were switched at birth.
Lucas plays the charatcer of Toby and appears in every one of the 104 episodes of the show. This drama will have its viewers laughing and crying, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
To Write Love on Her Arms (2012), Corbin Bleu
Alongside everyone’s favourite and early 2000’s heart-throb Chad Michael Murray, High School Musical alumn Corbin Bleu co-stars in this drama that centers around a young woman and her battle with the darker side of life.
This film is based off of a true story, and follows her journey through her struggles, ultimately leading to the creation of the charity group known as “To Write Love on Her Arms”, from which the movie gets its title. This is a beautiful movie, and is one of the only places one can get their fill of Chad Danforth, aka Corbin Bleu.
Powers (2015-2016), Olesya Rulin
Olesya plays the humble and quirky Kelsi in the High School Musical franchise, aka your favorite piano player. This actor also switched sides to television, where she is one of the main characters in this action crime drama. Although this show only has two seasons, it scored an impressive score on IMDb for a show of this nature.
Set in a world where humans and super heroes co-exist, a homicide detective investigates the crimes of these superhumans. It’s pretty intense and honestly, pretty entertaining, and one should check it out if they’re looking for a quick binge.
Dirty Grandpa (2016), Zac Efron
We thought we’d cover all of our bases with Zac Efron, considering he’s dabbled in just about every genre you could think of. While he has some pretty stellar roles, this is definitely our favorite comedy. Starring alongside Robert De Niro, Zoey Deutch, and Aubrey Plaza, this film follows Jason (Efron), an uptight rich man who is tricked into driving his feisty and youthful grandfather to Florida for Spring Break.
This movie is definitely never going to win any Oscars, but it’s also hilarious and will have viewers shaking their heads and laughing the entire time. There’s even some dance moves and a very shirtless Zac Efron.
Dog Days (2018), Vanessa Hudgens
This comedy drama follows a group of people in Los Angeles as they are brought together by their lovely canine counterparts. If one is looking for a heartfelt, hilarious, and relatable movie about adorable puppies, look no further!
With Nina Dobrev, Eva Longoria, and our gal Vanessa Hudgens, this movie will make even the coldest heart melt. It is a must-see. What more does one need to know besides that there are dogs in it?
Young & Hungry (2014-), Ashley Tisdale
This show has five incredible seasons, and is set for even more. When a young, rich tech entrepreneur hires a quirky and feisty food blogger to be his personal chef, things get all sorts of complicated. This show will definitely have viewers laughing, but its drama and romantic themes are also equally intriguing.
Starring another one of our favorite family stars, Emily Osment, we dare you not to fall in love with this cast. Ashley Tisdale plays Logan Rawlings, a recurring character who also complicates things for the group. This quirky sitcom is everything one needs, trust us.
