Two of the biggest superhero franchises in pop culture today is Marvel and My Hero Academia. The MCU runs all across the media landscape, and My Hero Academia is a fantastic anime with two feature-length films. It’s fun to imagine what might happen if these two universes crossed over.
This list isn’t only about which heroes from both franchises would have the coolest fights. This list also factors in what the duo could learn from each other, or balance each other out. These dream match-ups are for combinations that would not only have incredible action sequences but would also make a compelling episode of television.
Spider-Man & Uravity
Ochaco Uraraka, a.k.a. Uravity, is one of the star students in My Hero Academia. Spider-Man likely needs no introduction, as one of Marvel’s most iconic characters. But the specific Spider-Man that would make a great team-up for Uravity is an adult Peter Parker, as seen in Into the Spider-Verse or the PS4 game. This Spider-Man would make the best partner and mentor for the up-and-coming hero Uravity.
A lot of Uravity’s problems stem from the same roots as young Peter Parker. The balance of trying to become a hero and financially support your family, while also struggling with unrequited love. Peter Parker can step up to the plate as a superhero chaperone, as seen in Into the Spider-Verse. This older Spider-Man could show Uravity the ropes of Pro Hero life, and have a colorful adventure along the way.
Wolverine & Red Riot
Throughout his time with the X-Men, Logan becomes a great teacher and mentor to his mutant students. And Eijiro Kirishima is a powerful student who has a habit of befriending angsty heroes. While Wolverine is more mature than Kacchan, and Red Riot isn’t as much of a handful as Kid Omega, these two heroes could make a dynamic duo.
Wolverine’s claws paired with Red Riot’s strength makes a lethal combination. Both heroes deal some heavy damage when pushed to their limits. Plus, Red Riot could add a fun My Hero Academia twist to Wolverine’s Fastball Special. These are two hardcore heroes, and it’d be an incredible team-up.
Star-Lord & Ingenium
Tenya Iida is super serious, to the point of comedy. But he’s also dedicated, disciplined, and loyal. On the other hand, Peter Quill is a semi-reformed space criminal who’s constantly cracking jokes and dancing during battles. It’s a classic buddy cop dynamic - the straight-laced professional struggles to reign in his goofy wildcard partner. Star-Lord and Ingenium are almost nothing alike, but that’s why they would make for an entertaining duo.
This team-up gets more exciting when you imagine the two jumping between Japan and deep space. Whether it’s Star-Lord dealing with the culture shock of the modern-day, or Ingenium trying to cope with Marvel’s expansive universe, this team-up would be a fun planet-hopping escapade.
Daredevil & Tsukuyomi
Matt Murdock and Fumikage Tokoyami are two dark, dramatic heroes. Whereas Daredevil is an expert martial artist with enhanced skills, Tsukuyomi uses his Dark Shadow to attack his opponents. These two have very different powers, but they are both powerful heroes with similar personalities and could have an amazing team-up.
Daredevil’s incredibly well-suited for a partner who’s strongest in darkness. He can use his other senses to fight opponents and not get in Tsukuyomi’s way. Plus, Tsukuyomi worked well with the agile Froppy during the My Hero Academia Final Exam arc. Even with dissimilar power sets, they play to each others’ strengths really nicely.
Captain America & All Might
Captain America and All Might might be the most beloved heroes in their individual universes. Captain America is the beloved team leader of Marvel’s flagship team, the Avengers. All Might is the former Number 1 hero in the My Hero Academia universe. These two are not only powerful heroes, but they are both prominent figures in their respective worlds.
Yes, All Might is far more powerful than Captain America. But these two would absolutely become fast friends, as both are Symbols of Peace in their own way. They are bastions of positivity who push their fellow heroes to do their best. Pairing the two together would definitely bring out the best of both heroes.
Black Panther & Froppy
The MCU’s Black Panther hasn’t gotten along with a lot of non-Wakandan superheroes. Aside from banding together with everyone to stop Thanos, he’s mostly fought alongside his own people. But the King of Wakanda surrounds himself with highly capable and powerful women. Froppy could be a very interesting
Froppy is one of the most professional students of My Hero Academia’s star class. She’s very level-headed and has mastered the many uses of her Quirk over the years. Both Froppy and Black Panther are agile, so there’s very little worry about one leaving the other behind. These two are strong and intelligent enough to make an expert pair.
Miles Morales & Deku
This Marvel-My Hero Academia pairing features the two characters that are the most alike. Izuku Midoriya and Miles Morales are both teenage heroes learning to step into their mentor’s spotlight. These two incredibly hopeful heroes would be nearly unstoppable if they ever teamed up.
Both of these heroes are instantly iconic and beloved by fans. Like Black Panther & Froppy, these two are both skilled at moving fast, leaping around buildings for quick attacks. Pairing Miles’ unique venom strike with Midoriya’s Shoot Style would be devastating. Seeing these two protagonists team up could be one of the most monumental adventures for either character.
Thor & Shōto Todoroki
Shōto is incredibly strong, and one of the most capable 1-A students. Thor is a literal god, and one of the first Avengers. Pairing these two heroes together could make one of the most powerful elemental pairings in superhero history.
Along with their strength, both heroes also have chips on their shoulders from their fathers. Shōto’s father is the bitter Pro Hero Endeavor, who mistreated Todoroki and his mother. Odin, the King of Asgard (and a former Avenger in the comics) was a distant father to Thor and his half-brother Loki. The bond Shōto and Thor could form makes imagining this team-up even more fun.
Storm & Lemillion
Mirio Togata, a.k.a. Lemillion, was a powerful superhero with powers similar to Marvel’s Shadowcat. Unfortunately, Lemillion recently lost his powers in the anime following a fight with Overhaul. Now that the character is Quirkless, but still wants to be a hero, the X-Men that makes the most sense for Lemillion to team up with is Storm.
Storm is a powerful superhero and seasoned member of the X-Men. Not only does Ororo Munroe have plenty of teaching and leading experience, but she also knows what it’s like to lose your superpower. Even when Storm couldn’t use her powers, she still successfully led her fellow mutants into multiple battles. Storm would be the best Marvel character for the third-year Lemillion to team up with.
Hulk & Kacchan
If you want to talk about the angriest superheroes around, Hulk and Kacchan are prime contenders. Both characters are very destructive, though they’re good at heart. Neither hero is great at making friends, but if you need an enemy demolished, this hypothetical team-up would absolutely deliver.
These two heroes have a similar distrust of their fellow heroes. Kacchan’s anger stems from believing he’s the strongest, and not putting up with anything less from his classmates. Hulk resents the other Marvel heroes for only seeing him as a brainless monster, and often chooses to fight instead of talking things over. Pairing these two “punch first, ask questions later” personalities together could actually be a great way for the two to bond. This is a dream team-up because of how insane the chaos these two heroes could raise is.
